Security staff injured at university debate

Security guards were last night understood to have needed hospital treatment after masked activists stormed a university campus to try to “silence a debate”.

The King’s College London Libertarian Society, which organised the debate between Dr Yaron Brook, the chairman of the Ayn Rand Institute, and Youtuber Carl Benjamin – known as Sargon – said the event on the campus was cancelled due to safety reasons.

They said in a statement that windows were smashed, gas bombs were lit and a number of KCL security guards were assaulted, requiring hospital treatment, after anti-fascist protesters reportedly caused the disturbance.
