Guatemala moves embassy in Israel

Guatemala will relocate its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem this May, two days after the US shifts its mission, the country’s president announced.

Jimmy Morales told a cheering crowd that “as a sovereign decision, we recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel”.

He was speaking to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-israeli lobbying group.
