The War PBS AMERICA, 10.15PM
Master storyteller Ken Burns, of The Civil War fame, explores the Second World War through a very American lens. This seven-part series, first shown in 2007 and airing nightly this week, features accounts of war from inhabitants from four US towns – Alabama, California, Connecticut and Minnesota – to paint a picture of the human cost of war. Tom Hanks and Samuel L Jackson, among others, provide the voice-overs. This opener starts with Pearl Harbor.
