Wallaby and joey die after shooting

A wallaby’s killer is being hunted by police after a pellet was found in the animal’s skull after its death.

It is thought that an intruder broke into the animal education centre at East Park in Hull overnight between Feb 10 and Feb 20 and shot the wallaby while it was in its pen. The wallaby had to be put down by a vet and its joey also died.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “A postmortem examination found an air pellet in the animal’s skull, which caused its death.
