Woman found stabbed to death after husband ‘jumped from cliffs with two young sons’

- By Olivia Rudgard

A FATHER is thought to have jumped off cliffs near Beachy Head with his two young sons in a suspected murder-suicide.

The body of a 47-year-old woman was found at her home in Twickenham on Monday, while her husband and children were found 60 miles away at Birling Gap seafront in East Sussex.

The mother-of-two was found stabbed to death shortly before 6pm, and police said her husband, 57, and children, aged seven and 10, had been found an hour earlier at the seafront in Eastbourne. A vehicle was recovered nearby.

The woman’s death is being treated as murder and an investigation has been launched.

Neighbours said the family were from Europe and had moved into the house around a year ago. Paul Warrington, 54, only heard about the killing when police knocked on his door.

The graphic designer and father-oftwo said they were “normal” and that nothing about them had made him suspicious. He last saw them around 10 days ago and regularly heard the children screaming and shouting as they played in the garden. Neighbour Alycia Mead, 25, said the family were “very quiet”. “I haven’t really seen them. I saw Christmas lights go up, but that’s about it,” she said.

A bus driver, who refused to be named, said: “It is a shock. They were very nice people; pleasant. I saw them quite a few times and you could just tell they were very nice.”

A former owner of the home confirmed it was sold in 2014 and is believed to have been rented to the family. Police said that at this stage they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incidents.
