A Cinderella Story (2004)

Mauled by critics, this high-school drama – a modern interpretation of the eponymous fairy tale – was a huge success, grossing over $70million and generating three sequels. Hilary Duff is a simpering but likeable Californian Cinderella, while teenage heart-throb Chad Michael Murray plays Prince Charming. The two fall in love as a dropped mobile phone substitutes for the glass slipper.
