Four seriously injured after stabbings in Vienna

Four people were seriously injured in two knife attacks in the same district of the Austrian capital Vienna last night.

The stabbings occurred in Vienna’s Second District. Police said three members of the same family were seriously injured and were fighting for their lives.

Half an hour later a fourth person was stabbed nearby. An Afghan citizen was arrested for the second assault, and police were continuing to investigate.

A spokesman said: “We do not know to what extent there is a connection and any motive remains unclear.”
