Balotelli tackles Italy’s first black senator
MARIO BALOTELLI has denounced Toni Iwobi, an Italian politician of Nigerian origin who has vowed to stop the “invasion” of African migrants.
Italy’s best-known black footballer, who has played for Manchester City and Liverpool, said on social media: “Maybe I’m blind or maybe they haven’t told him yet that he’s black.
This is shameful.”
The striker’s anger came after Iwobi – a member of the anti-immigrant League party who this week became the first black senator in the country’s history – also backed expelling half a million migrants. He said: “Why allow in all these poor people if you cannot guarantee their future?”
