SIR – I was interested to read (Letters, March 7) about the 12-and-a-half-year wedding anniversary celebrated in Holland.

As we were somewhat older than average when we married, we celebrated halfway to our silver and called it our silver-plated anniversary. Happily, we did reach solid silver. Amanda Howard
