Adverse weather conditions led to the cancellation of the Swiss Pairs in Bath, Swiss Teams in Bath, Swiss Pairs in Leicestershire and Swiss Teams in Bedfordshire, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent. Two one-day events that did go ahead were both Swiss Pairs: one at Altrincham Bridge Club, organised by the Manchester County Bridge Association, and one at Tunbridge Wells Bridge Club, organised by Kent Contract Bridge Association. Winners in Manchester: 1st Bill Carr and Sue Woodcock, 105 VPS; 2nd Liz Commins and David Stevenson, 100 VPS; 3rd Sue Fjortoft and Nick Woodcock, 99 VPS; and 4th Michael Byrne and Michael Newman, 97 VPS. Winners in Kent: 1st Norman Selway and Kay Preddy, 112 VPS; 2nd John Austin and Michael Percik, 99 VPS; 3rd Jeremy Willans and Jill Skinner, 95 VPS; and 4th Eddie Richart and John Amor, 94 VPS.
