Clarkson back on terrestrial TV to host ‘Millionaire’ special
♦ Jeremy Clarkson is to make a return to terrestrial television as the new host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? when the game show returns later this year.
To mark 20 years since the first Millionaire, originally presented by Chris Tarrant, seven episodes are to air across one week later this spring.
Mr Clarkson, the Grand Tour presenter and ex-top Gear host, said: “I have always loved the show and am thrilled to be involved with its rebirth. I’m a big fan of quiz shows. I’m looking forward to hopefully making a few millionaires.”
The popular ITV game show debuted in September 1998 and went on to become one of the most popular formats across the world.
Siobhan Greene, ITV’S head of entertainment, said: “In doing this one-off special week, I hope Millionaire will be introduced to a whole new generation. And, with television legend Jeremy Clarkson asking the questions, frankly anything could happen.”
