Moped muggers attack mother for £25,000 Rolex in front of children

 Moped muggers attacked a mother on the school run to steal her £25,000 Rolex watch at knifepoint in front of her terrified children.

Thomas Mcdermott, 24, and 17-yearold George Fitzgerald raced through the streets of London’s Chelsea looking for wealthy victims before jumping off their bikes and attacking Heather Mitchell.

CCTV footage shown to Southwark Crown Court court showed the children watching in horror as their mother was dragged along the ground.

The thieves ripped her Rolex Day-date watch from her wrist after robbing a businessma­n of his Rolex Oyster Perpetual just days before.

Mcdermott was on bail at the time for stealing seven motorbikes and mopeds along with Hisham Tawfik, 20. They grabbed Piaggios, a Hondas Vespa, a Ducatis and a rare MV Agusta worth a total of up to £60,000.

Mcdermott, of Kilburn, admitted conspiracy to rob, theft, attempted theft, and threatenin­g behaviour and was jailed for 12½ years.

Fitzgerald, of Dagenham, admitted conspiracy to rob, theft and making of without payment and was sentenced to five years in a youth detention centre. Tawfik, of West Kilburn, admitted theft, handling stolen goods and threatenin­g behaviour and was sentenced to three years in a youth detention centre.
