Honour for officer killed in terror attack

 The police officer killed in the Westminste­r terror attack has been given a posthumous award for his heroic response.

Pc Keith Palmer, who was stabbed to death when he confronted attacker Khalid Masood outside the Houses of Parliament last March, was awarded the outstandin­g bravery of the year prize at the Met Police Excellence Awards. On March 22, Pc Palmer, a husband and father, was on duty at the Palace of Westminste­r. The 48-year-old officer came face to face with Masood, who was armed with two knives, moments after the terrorist drove a car into pedestrian­s on Westminste­r Bridge.

The officer was fatally wounded after confrontin­g 52-year-old Masood, who was shot dead by armed officers.
