Sober leadership
SIR – It is undeniable that Winston Churchill had a prodigious capacity for alcohol (Letters, March 9); however, it is unlikely that he drank at breakfast.
My late client, the triple-agent Eddie Chapman, described to me a time when Churchill invited him to join him in his bedroom for breakfast at 10 Downing Street.
While Chapman was offered a brandy, he assured me that Churchill drank only tea throughout the meeting. Guy Rose
