Thank God for one-offs like Sarandon
God bless Susan Sarandon, currently in the UK and reminding us how wonderful she is.
Sarandon spoke to the BBC about the Hollywood gender pay gap: “Emma Stone said she got equal pay because her male stars insisted upon it, and gave up something of theirs,” said Sarandon. “That happened to me with Paul Newman, when I did a film with him ages ago. He said, ‘Well, I’ll give you part of mine.’ So, yeah, he was a gem.”
The stars fighting for change with #Metoo and the Time’s Up campaign are fantastic. But Sarandon was ahead of her time. I feel fortunate that my daughter is growing up at a time when women like her are no longer considered a one-off.
