Inmarsat cuts payouts to provide airline Wi-fi

-

British satellite giant Inmarsat plans to slash its dividend to help fund its bet on providing in-flight Wi-fi services. The FTSE 250 firm charges airlines including British Airways owner IAG to use its network of satellites and ground-based stations to provide passengers with internet access. The service’s popularity helped Inmarsat’s aviation division grow by over a third in 2017, driving up group revenues 5.4pc to £1bn.
