Standstill on railways as protesters climb on track

-

Trains were disrupted in Manchester and London yesterday after protesters staged demonstrations on the tracks.

Manchester Piccadilly was brought to a standstill when activists made their way from the concourse on to the tracks at around 1pm yesterday. Some protesters brought children with them as they climbed on to the tracks.

The protest was thought to be in opposition to Turkey’s conflict with Syrian Kurds.

In London, a similar protest outside King’s Cross caused the station to be closed. Some trains were diverted and services revised until the station reopened on Sunday evening.
