On the beach
Images of abandoned piers, decaying resorts and dazzling arcades are on show at an exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, The Great British Seaside: Photography from 1960s to present, until Aug 27. The coast is celebrated through the lenses of some of the country’s most popular photographers, including Tony Ray-jones, David Hurn and Simon Roberts. There is new work by Martin Parr, who shot this photograph of New Brighton, near Liverpool, from his series The Last Resort 1983-85.
