Alert over suspicious parcel sent to Muslim MP

Police officers were called to Parliament to investigate a suspicious package that was sent to a Muslim MP.

The officers were investigating a package which was reported to be leaking a liquid at MPS’ offices in the Norman Shaw building in the Houses of Parliament yesterday.

Police were said to be concerned that the package was linked to a spate of threatening letters calling for a “Punish a Muslim Day” on April 3.

At least three police officers and five ambulance staff were called to the scene in the Houses of Parliament.

There were reports that a man and woman were taken to hospital as a precaution.
