Knitting and community effort go together
sir – It is pleasing to learn that knitting is good for our health (report, March 11), though I am not sure about lowering blood pressure: a complicated piece that keeps going wrong can cause great angst.
Your report focused on the wonderful work of the charity Knit for Peace. There is also a huge silent army of knitters and stitchers across the country donating their efforts to community groups and raising funds. Each year, the group of which I am a member takes a pile of cot quilts to local hospitals’ premature baby units; and twice a year it has a stall in the foyer of Frimley Park Hospital, which raises over £2,000.
