Stolen tortoise found 15 miles from its home

A stolen tortoise has been returned to its home after it was found 15 miles away in a park.

Huck, a red-footed tortoise, was taken from Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World in Lasswade last month. Staff feared for its health without the special lamps and diet it relies on.

Police Scotland and the Scottish SPCA were involved in the search for the eight-year-old reptile which was eventually found by a dog walker in an Edinburgh park.

Lyndsey Paget, one of Huck’s keepers, said: “We’re so happy to have Huck back home with us. We really missed him, and so did our visitors.”
