Man ‘tried to kill his sister’ in row over selfie

-

A SELFIE row led to attempted murder between two siblings, a court was told.

Carmelo Pappalardo, 57, is alleged to have used his car “as a weapon” to deliberately drive into his sister Anna Sciara, 54, who suffered multiple fractures and internal bleeding as a result.

The “blazing row” erupted because Mrs Sciara’s brother refused to allow her and her sister, Rita Pappalardo, to put up any photos of themselves with their father in his home, St Albans Crown Court heard.

When their father asked to have a selfie with his daughters their brother is said to have “become aggressive”, grabbing his sister’s throat before saying: “You’ll have yours coming.” Mrs Sciara claims to have later seen her brother’s Blue Fiat 600 whilst walking and told the court “the car came straight at me”. James Lofthouse, prosecuting, said Mr Pappalardo “intended to kill Anna Sciara”. Mr Pappalardo pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, GBH, battery and perverting the course of justice. The trial continues.
