J CREW’S EVERYDAY HOOPS
A make-up artist once told me that a good pair of earrings will do as much for lifting the complexion as a bold red lipstick. I’m not a fan of red lipstick – a borderline blasphemous statement for a beauty director to make, I know – but jingly, jangly earrings? Sign me up. I’m not generally into statement jewellery, either (“do you actually like anything Sonia?” I hear you cry) so that’s why you’ll never catch me in a weighty, bold necklace, mainly because I feel like anything too fancy around my neckline would draw more attention to my already generous, er, assets. But I make an exception for earrings, especially if they’re from the high street like these gold beauties from J Crew.
I think the high street hits the mark for wear-with-everything earrings that are expensive-looking yet purse friendly, and I seldom spend more than £30 on a dressy pair. My only requirement is that they must jingle and jangle to some degree (these do). You know, just so I’m getting my face-lifting money’s worth.
