 A demanding role for the luminous Audrey Hepburn in this absorbing drama about a Belgian nun who finds fulfilment as a missionary nurse in the Congo. Fred Zinnemann’s film was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Actress, and deservedly so – Hepburn’s sensitive and eloquent performance makes it one of her finest films, but the pace flags. Peter Finch and Peggy Ashcroft co-star.
