Toothpaste claims don’t scrub up, say scientists
Don’t buy toothpaste brands that claim to protect against dental wear because they won’t work, scientists have warned.
Tests at the universities of Bern, Switzerland, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, on nine off-the-shelf toothpastes found none protected teeth against enamel loss or stopped erosion.
Experts said a sugar-free diet and regular trips to a dentist were the best way to avoid teeth problems.
Researchers said a rise in dental erosion and hypersensitivity had led to more and more toothpastes on the market that claimed to treat these problems, according to an article published in Scientific Reports.
