The Art of Now: Dangerous Places

It’s one of the great testaments to the human spirit that even in places where life is constantly being threatened and despair should prevail, art is usually also being made. This edition of The Art of Now focuses on art that is being made in desperate situations. Composer Errollyn Wallen meets makers including cartoonist and trumpeter Mazen Kerbaj, who discusses his work during the 2006 Lebanon war, and poet Bejan Matur, who talks about life as a Kurd in southern Turkey.

 Bringing Douglas Adams back to his spiritual home of Radio 4, and celebrating 40 years since The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was first broadcast as a radio drama, this full-cast dramatisation of And Another Thing... by Eoin Colfer, with additional material by Douglas Adams, continues revisiting the glorious universe Adams first created. Adapted and directed by Dirk Maggs, it stars, among others, Jim Broadbent, Jane Horrocks, Ed Byrne, Lenny Henry, Jon Culshaw and the late Professor Stephen Hawking.
