Prosecutors rule out new charges over Poppi death
Poppi Worthington’s mother has said that it is likely she may never get closure after prosecutors ruled out charging the toddler’s father in connection with her death.
Paul Worthington, 50, had been ruled on three separate occasions to have sexually assaulted the 13-monthold. A coroner asked the Crown Prosecution Service to look again at the evidence. Now two months after the inquest, in which Mr Worthington refused to answer questions in case he incriminated himself, prosecutors said there was nothing new to alter their original decision not to charge him. Mr Worthington denies all allegations.
After the decision, a lawyer for Poppi’s mother, who cannot be named, said “she may never get closure”.
