DJ Goldie makes legal history with plea on Facetime

-

GOLDIE, the British DJ, has made legal history by becoming the first defendant in a UK court to plead guilty over Facetime, the video call app.

The 52-year-old, whose birth name is Clifford Price, was in Thailand but was due at Bristol Magistrates’ Court for trial yesterday and failed to appear.

His legal team applied to delay the case in his absence but when that failed the artist sent an email saying he would plead guilty to assaulting bouncer Dennis Poole on June 23 last year by beating him.

It read: “Yep, guilty as charged,” the court heard, but District Judge Lynne Matthews said she was not happy with the unorthodox move and demanded Price send a formal email confirming he would plead guilty on the full facts of the prosecution case.

Price was contacted on Facetime and confirmed his name and address to the court.
