Hacker who gave up US army whistleblower dies
Adrian Lamo, the computer hacker who passed on information that led to the arrest of Chelsea Manning, has died aged 37, his father said last night.
In 2010, Ms Manning, a former US army soldier, confided in Mr Lamo in online messages, describing confidential military material she had sent to Wikileaks.
Mario Lamo, Mr Lamo’s father, wrote on Facebook last night: “A bright mind and compassionate soul is gone, he was my beloved son.”
