Six Labour chiefs quit over new party boss

-

Six of Labour’s most senior staff quit yesterday ahead of the announcement expected to confirm Jennie Formby, an ally of Jeremy Corbyn, as the party’s new general secretary.

The exodus comes just weeks after former general secretary Iain Mcnicol resigned, alongside Patrick Heneghan, the party’s election chief.

Sources said the prospect of working for Ms Formby, a Unite official and close ally of Len Mccluskey, was “a step too far”.

The six include compliance head John Stolliday, London Labour regional director Neil Fleming and executive director of policy and research Simon Jackson.
