Falcon entangled 60ft up in a tree
A falcon caught up in a tree has been rescued and reunited with its owner.
The bird of prey was found trapped after a trespasser cut loose six rescue birds from Artisan Rare Breeds and Animal Rescue in Dartford.
Cut from their tethers following a display, the birds were still wearing equipment and the falcon became entangled in the branches of a tree.
Two birds were immediately reclaimed, and later a barn owl and Harris hawk were retrieved.
The three-year-old falcon with a 4ft wingspan was spotted tangled about 60ft up in a tree by a member of the public who contacted the RSPCA.
With help from a local tree surgeon, an officer freed the bird, which was distressed but uninjured. A male Harris hawk remains missing.
Wayne May, who holds displays to raise animal awareness, said: “To release these birds is irresponsible.” Samantha Herbert
