Gift Aid confusion

sir – There is indeed confusion over Gift Aid (report, March 19).

I make a monthly donation to charity which claims Gift Aid without trouble. But if I visit historic houses, I have to pay extra if I want them to claim Gift Aid on my payment. They display two prices, one with and one without Gift Aid.

At places such as the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, they don’t charge extra to claim Gift Aid; they allow you to return free of charge for a year. Rob Dorrell
