Police warn public not to salvage lost timber

-

Police have told people not to grab hundreds of bundles of timber that are washing ashore on the Scottish coastline after they were swept from a cargo ship. The Frisian Lady lost around 200 bundles of timber during severe weather and they are now reported to be washing up on beaches between St Andrews in Fife and Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders.

Chief Inspector James Jones, of Police Scotland, said: “Some areas of our coastline can be dangerous, with strong tides, deep water and rocky areas. Do not put yourself at risk by trying to recover any of the timber… please leave it to the professionals.”
