Rules of Gift Aid

-

sir – Rob Dorrell (Letters, March 21) notes some confusing conditions about Gift Aid. Gift Aid is claimable on voluntary donations, but not on ordinary admissions. However, if a price more than 10 per cent higher than the standard admission is paid then it counts as a donation and Gift Aid is claimable. Similarly, a payment for a ticket giving admission for a year is also classed as a donation.

The rules, all set out in the official online guidance, require that the two prices Mr Dorrell notes be displayed. Henry Shipley
