Mama Hasria and a companion swim six miles a day along the Mandar river with 200 jerry cans tied to them to fetch clean water for their community on Sulawesi island, Indonesia, for which they are paid £5. The water is distribute­d among 5,800 families in Tinambung. “Water in the village can only be used for bathing and laundry,” she says.
