 Continuing the celebration of Debussy tonight is the chance to hear two of his most enduring compositions, Nocturnes and La mer, the latter of which was completed in Eastbourne in 1905. They are performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, who are conducted by Jac van Steen. The programme also includes Mozart’s Piano Concerto No27, with pianist Steven Osborne, and Messiaen’s Les offrandes oubliées, making for a fine evening of music exploring the divine, the mystical, and the playful and majestic elements of nature.
