Maltesers may be poised to go button-shaped

Confectioners Mars may seeking to alter the shape of Maltesers from round balls to buttons after details of an upcoming advert allegedly leaked.

A source who was reportedly invited to audition told The Sun: “We were told the Maltesers we would be holding would be flat, like a Minstrel.

“We were not given the chocolate but it was described to us.”

Sales of the honeycomb-filled sweet, named Britain’s favourite chocolate in 2015, have fallen in the past year.

If the change is made, it could be in response to the new sugar tax regulations, due later this year.
