Commuters face grief as three rail strikes loom

-

Workers at three rail companies are taking industrial action this week in separate disputes that, when combined, threaten widespread travel disruption.

Members of the RMT union at Arriva Rail North (Northern) will walk out for 24 hours today and on Thursday, in a row over guards. RMT members on South Western Railway will refuse to work rest days over the Easter weekend, accusing the company of refusing to engage with the union.

Talks will be held today over a 48-hour stoppage by RMT members on London’s Docklands Light Railway called following a “comprehensive breakdown” in industrial relations.
