Terror attack victim learns to cycle again

-

♦ A survivor of the Manchester Arena terrorist attack who was left paralysed when his body was riddled with nails from the bomb has stunned doctors after learning how to cycle again.

Martin Hibbert, who was the closest person to the bomb to survive, was told he would never regain movement. But he is now targeting walking again after undergoing radical therapy in Australia which has trained his brain to send impulses to move his limbs in a way that bypasses his damaged nerves.

Mr Hibbert, 41, told The Daily Mirror that he went from no movement at all to mastering cycling and crawling within two weeks. He said: “Each day brought a new miracle, from sitting up unaided and perfectly balanced to being able to bend and lift my legs.”
