Girl badly hurt as driver targets children
♦ A girl has been seriously injured after a car was deliberately driven into a group of children in what police believe was an attempted murder.
The group of five, aged 12 to 14, were on a pavement in Castlemilk, Glasgow, at around 3.30pm on Saturday when they were struck by a silver Vauxhall Astra being driven by a man. The car failed to stop. Police are now looking for the driver and his male passenger.
A 14 year-old girl was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in a “serious but stable” condition. Three girls aged 12, 13 and 14, and a 12-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.
Det Insp Peter Sharp said: “[The car] was deliberately driven at this group of children and, as such, we are treating this as attempted murder.”
