Caribbean frog hops on a banana boat to Tesco
A stowaway tree frog has found itself more than 4,000 miles from its home in the Dominican Republic after hiding in a batch of bananas which were delivered to a supermarket in Blackburn.
The frog, which would usually be found hopping from tree to tree in the sun-soaked Caribbean, was discovered by shocked staff at a Lancashire branch of Tesco. They called in the RSPCA in order to find the tiny amphibian a new home.
The frog has since been taken to a specialist exotic animal rescue centre in West Yorkshire. Staff there said the amphibian could make a full recovery after appearing a little thin.
