The first episode details the horrors and humiliations of the infamous Jim Crow laws, which enforced racial segregation in the southern United States, and the brave people who fought them.
Lent Talks RADIO 4, 8.45PM
Radio 4’s Lent Talks conclude this week with a lecture from the Archbishop of Canterbury. This morning the Most Rev Justin Welby discusses a moment in the story of the Passion of Christ that has long fascinated theologians and has a modern resonance to our age of social isolation: Jesus’s “cry of dereliction” on the cross, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?”, or “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” The archbishop explores the theme of abandonment and desolation that this moment in the Easter story suggests to us.
