Queen of the waves

The Queen waves to the crew of HMS Ocean alongside Captain Rob Pedre at the ship’s decommissioning ceremony yesterday

The Queen boards HMS Ocean, left, for its decommissioning ceremony, above, at Devonport in Plymouth, as the ship’s company form a guard of honour, top. HMS Ocean, or the “Mighty O” as she is known throughout the fleet, has been sold to the Brazilian navy for £84 million after 20 years’ service.

The Queen paid tribute to the warship and her crew before the ceremony ended with the Royal Navy White Ensign being symbolically hauled down from the ship’s main mast.
