German gift to Russia

SIR – On Wednesday Germany gave approval for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany. This is folly at the best of times, but to do so when the EU is trying to make a concerted protest against the Skripal poisonings is incomprehensible.

This is what comes of decades of virtue-signalling about global warming and decarbonisation. There will be a very heavy price to pay. Brian Clarke
