A 23-year age gap? That’s titanic…

-

Pictures of Leonardo Dicaprio with Camila Morrone, his lissom new Argentinian model girlfriend, don’t look weird in Hollywood, where leading men are routinely much older than their love interest.

Box office big-hitter Dicaprio is a rather lived-in 43. Morrone is a fresh-faced beauty of 20, who also happens to be Al Pacino’s stepdaughter. That’s an age gap of 23 years. I can understand the physical pull; when the allure of youth meets the attraction of maturity, sparks are bound to fly.

But what on earth do the couple find to talk about? Seriously, I struggle to think what common ground there might be, apart from mutual adoration.

There’s her stepfather’s back catalogue to admire and, of course, Dicaprio’s own filmography. He won his first Oscar two years ago for The Revenant, but is still best known for his role as Jack in Titanic. Lots to talk about. And if he has trouble remembering when this classic was made, it was 1997 – the year his girlfriend was born.
