♦ The Israeli government bought Twitter handle @Israel from a Spanish owner for an undisclose­d six-figure sum in 2010.

♦ Lego won an arbitratio­n in 2009 allowing it to remove a site that featured its figures in explicit poses.

♦ A Japanese cybersquat­ter took advantage of the Malawian top-level domain to register the site b.mw.

♦ When Google launched parent company Alphabet in 2015 with the web address abc.xyz, there were 20,000 registrati­ons of sites with the .xyz domain.

♦ In November, online fashion retailer Asos won a ruling against a cybersquat­ter who tried to sell clothes on asosdress.store.

♦ L’oreal has won many disputes against imitators such as loreal.store.
