Stretch your legs to avoid falls, pensioners advised

Frail pensioners should stretch their legs five times a week to stop falls at home, scientists have suggested.

Carrying out the half-hour routine increases mobility by improving blood flow to the limbs, according to new US research.

Prof Judy Muller-delp of Florida State University College of Medicine said: “This highlights even individual­s who struggle to walk due to pain or lack of mobility can undertake activity to possibly improve their health.”
