Be quick to spot fastest bird

-

Walking to work, eating lunch or visiting for a day trip, those in Manchester this spring may spot the world’s fastest bird in action.

For the 12th season, the popular Manchester Peregrine Project is back in the city, inviting the public to witness these spectacular birds soaring above them.

A large and powerful falcon, the peregrine has long, broad, pointed wings and a relatively short tail – a build that can see it reach up to 200mph.

From Apr 14 to Jul 15, the RSPB will be manning viewpoints in the heart of the city at Exchange Square, every day between 10.30am and 6pm.

From this spot, those watching can get impressive views of these agile animals catching feral pigeons in the centre, as well as learning more from RSPB volunteers who will be under a blue marquee.
