Polluted island closed to visitors

Rodrigo Duterte, president of the Philippines, has temporarily closed the island of Borocay for six months due to sewage and pollution problems.

One of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, the island will be closed to tourists from April 26 after Mr Duterte declared it a “cesspool”.
