Play starts this evening and continues on Saturday and Sunday for the rescheduled second weekend of the Camrose, the open event in the 2018 International series, organised by Bridge Great Britain, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent. The action takes place at the City North Hotel, Gormanstown, County Meath, near Dublin. Spectators are welcome at the venue or via the usual online broadcast provided by Bridge Base Online.
As hosts for the second weekend, Ireland, who are the holders, have two teams this year.
England last won in 2016, while Scotland last won in 1998. Northern Ireland have never won. Coming in to the second weekend, England are in the lead with the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland (CBAI) and Ireland teams in second and third place respectively.
Both Tom Townsend and I will be there, with Tom a player for England and myself as captain of Wales.
